PDF, as a format, is inimical to eBooks/HTML. They are 180º different. PDF cares about what something looks like--not what it is. HTML/eBooks care about what something is, first, and what it looks like, second. I have an article about (some of) the problems, using PDF, here: http://www.booknook.biz/ebook-conversion-basics/ebooks-made-from-pdf/#378 . It doesn't remotely cover everything, but it tries to explain some of the problems.
Um...I guess, if you cannot afford a professional, your only route is to use a program like Calibre, to convert it to Word, and then, from there, clean the entire file. It's a lengthy and detailed process, but it's doable. Do you know how to use Styles and Headings, Tammy? If you don't, then, to be honest, you're kind of fighting an uphill battle. You should go here: https://shaunakelly.com/topic/word/concepts.html and start at the very beginning. Work your way through that page. All the way to the bottom. When you're done with those (I know it looks intimidating, but it won't take you more than an hour), go here: https://shaunakelly.com/word/styles/tipsonstyles.html and then, work your way through 1 and 2, on that page. Then go here: https://shaunakelly.com/topic/word/numbering.html , and do this one, at the bottom: https://shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/usebuiltinheadingstyles.html .
Those will give you the fundamental basics that you need, to successfully clean up a Word file, and restyle it, using STYLES and HEADINGS, so that you can in turn make a successfully-formatted eBook. There aren't any shortcuts to this. People will tell you that there are--and they know not of what they speak. Doing this is realistically the only way to get your file from PDF to a competently-done ebook, if you have to DIY.
Hope that helps!

As Nadella heads toward his first decade at the helm of the tech titan we can only speculate what treats lie in store as he gradually shifts Microsoft from the D&D fantasy alignment of neutral evil to perhaps true neutral or maybe even lawful neutral.
Four years after its release, we’re all still using Windows 10. But that’s not really true: The version of Windows 10 we’re using today has seen four years of improvements. It’s packed with shiny new features and clever under-the-hood optimizations. //
Despite the version number, the Windows 10 operating system we’re all using today is practically a new version of Windows. If Microsoft kept the naming scheme from Windows 8.1, we’d be on Windows 10.7 by now.
Some SSDs advertise support for “hardware encryption.” If you enable BitLocker on Windows, Microsoft trusts your SSD and doesn’t do anything. But researchers have found that many SSDs are doing a terrible job, which means BitLocker isn’t providing secure encryption.
Update: Microsoft has issued a security advisory about this problem. It includes a command you can use to check whether you’re using hardware or software encryption. //

Image Composite Editor (ICE) is an advanced panoramic image stitcher created by the Microsoft Research Computational Photography Group. Given a set of overlapping photographs of a scene shot from a single camera location, the app creates high-resolution panoramas that seamlessly combine original images. ICE can also create panoramas from a panning video, including stop-motion action overlaid on the background. Finished panoramas can be saved in a wide variety of image formats, including JPEG, TIFF, and Photoshop’s PSD/PSB format, as well as the multiresolution tiled format used by HD View and Deep Zoom.
