Fighting Climate Change without increasing fire protections is self defeating. //
“In California, cumulative CO2 emissions from wildfires for the year as of Sept. 13 reached about 83 million metric tons, according to data from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. That’s the highest level since the beginning of the Centre’s records in 2003.”
California’s fire emissions have exceeded the amount of carbon emissions the state has annually from power generation. In order to account for the additional carbon, the State would have to shut down all carbon-producing power generation for more than a year. As a result of the fires from just this year, California has eliminated ALL carbon reductions they have made for more than a decade.

New polls have shown that when it comes to trust in the science community, we’re seeing a double-digit fall among the American people. According to The Hill, two separate studies have confirmed that the reputation of institutions and scientists have taken a hit in the last few months: Two new surveys show most Americans still trust leading scientists and institutions like the Centers for Disease ...
We’ve been training people to believe that when a scientist says something, it’s akin to God handing down a declaration from on high but in reality that’s just not the case. Scientists are figuring out a universe we don’t understand little by little as an infant figures out the world it’s born into. The amount of things we don’t know is overwhelming and will likely stay that way for thousands of years. A “discovery” by a scientist is nothing but one small spec of dirt on a mountain of dirt, and even then, he might not fully understand the spec he found.
I think more skepticism of the scientific community is needed, and especially when it comes to scientists who claim to know the thing they’re talking about inside and out. Especially when it’s reported on by biased reporters who treat science like a booty call.

This has a rather Third World aroma about it
Zhao Shengye became a household name overnight in China and among overseas Chinese communities after he suggested in a recent social media post that Beijing should deploy nuclear weapons to counter the United States’ recent actions. //
On Sept. 12, Zhao posted: “if [U.S. President Donald] Trump is bent on fighting against China…even intervening in a future war to liberate Taiwan, the ultimate result of Trump’s actions will be the destruction of all mankind.” //
Significantly, Zhao’s controversial post included an English translation as well, suggesting that it was meant for a broader audience.
-
When a nuclear submarine loaded with nuclear warheads is detonated in the Pacific Ocean, the shock waves could exceed 2,000 meters. The water would submerge surrounding areas.
-
Detonating thousands of nuclear bombs in the Himalayas at the same time could change the orbit of the earth.
-
Drilling 10,000 meters deep in the Sichuan basin and implanting thousands of nuclear bombs at the same time would trigger the collapse of the earth’s core and the extinction of human beings all over the world.
Zhao’s jaw-dropping post drew immediate reaction among netizens.Kantie, an online Chinese-language media outlet, argued that Zhao represented the Chinese regime’s authoritarian mentality of, “if I cannot survive, no one else shall be allowed to survive.”
China analysts also described Zhao as a radical nationalist. His extremist ideas became a hotly debated topic online. But about ten hours later, the post was deleted from the platform. Some netizens questioned whether authorities initially allowed the post because they wanted to threaten nuclear war with the United States.

Lesson 42 on how to make a Snowflake meltdown
- Ask the snowflake if he, she, it believes in American Exceptionalism
- After the snowflake says "no," ask if America has any business interfering with the internal affairs of another country, using the US Military to achieve the goal.
- After the snowflake answers "No f'ing way," ask the snowflake to explain why it is wrong of President Trump to bring our troops home from these "endless war" deployments.
The snowflake will meltdown and sputter "...but, but, ORANGE MAN BAD!"
Paging Democrats, you might want to check this out...

So is it the Biden-Harris administration or the Obama-Biden administration or the Harris-Biden administration?
Trump War Room - Text TRUMP to 88022
Umm... Joe Biden just touted the actions of "the Obama-Biden Administration" and said "this is just the beginning if we get re-elected."
Let's say we all do it Gavin's way, would it even stop the fires?
Not a problem of a moving target, Democrats are basically shooting at anything hoping to hit something. //
Joe and Jill showing up in person to vote flies directly against the months spent by Democrats declaring this practice is far too dangerous for anyone to engage in, during the command that mail-in voting is a required variable this election.
That Joe, who the campaign loves to have remaining ensconced in his home, did not make a video filling out a ballot from the safety of his coffee table, but went physically to cast a vote, completely dismantles the entire Democrat mail-in-vote narrative. If the 77 year old in the Covid prime risk category can safely vote this is no longer an issue. The Trump campaign should be pushing this video on a regular loop now,
Losing twice to Trump would be bad. An outright breakdown of American democracy would be much worse. //
threats to America's democratic order really do come from both parties — from the Republican president Democrats loathe and fear, but also from the Democrats themselves, who might well be driven by political anger, disgust, and frustration to lash out against the rules that have governed American presidential elections for more than 200 years.
Doing so would be incredibly foolish. //
So a loss would be incredibly painful for the party. But would it be illegitimate? Evidence that the system is rigged against the Democrats? Justification for going outside the system by refusing to concede? No. What it would be justification for is starting a movement to abolish the Electoral College or institute a work-around to ensure that the candidate who wins the popular vote receives the requisite electoral votes to win the presidency. I support all of that. But strongly favoring those reforms is quite different than saying that in the meantime Democrats get to reject the outcome of elections when the rules they've accepted for more than two centuries deliver results they don't like.
The Democrats' problems are contingent, not systematic. //
In 2016, the problem was different. Now the Democrats ran up the popular vote with lopsided victories in a handful of very liberal high-population states while falling just short of carrying a handful of more culturally conservative states in the rust belt and upper Midwest. If Trump manages to win in 2020, it will likely happen in the same way. //
If the Democrats had reason to believe that this scenario would automatically be repeated forevermore, they would be justified in rejecting the country's electoral system on the grounds of systematic bias against them. But we all know this isn't the reality. As recently as 2008 and 2012, when the party was led by a broadly popular candidate who motivated all of its many disparate factions to show up on Election Day, the rules worked just fine, delivering solid (and in 2008, resounding) victories in the Electoral College. //
This points toward a way for the party to improve its likelihood of winning — by trading some of those wasted votes for votes it needs far more in other (more culturally conservative) regions of the country. They could do this by soft-peddling positions on the left side of the culture-war, finding, for example, 21st-century equivalents to Bill Clinton's pledge to make abortion "safe, legal, and rare." That is a winning path forward for the Democrats within the current system.
When government's first reaction in a crisis is to restrict your freedoms, it's not actually fighting anything. //
The first reaction of a government during a crisis shouldn’t be determining what it can restrict you from doing. That’s the thought process of someone who believes more government can fix things, when all this crisis has shown us is that more government creates a bigger mess.

the rot resulting from Obama’s executive order and the firings of senior military officers has wrought extensive damage to military good order, discipline, readiness, and training – and ultimately to the nation’s national defense capabilities. The political corruption in the military needs to be reversed and the hyper-partisans purged from the ranks. Start at the top, Mr. President!
Apatow is one of the few critical of China. //
Apatow continued by saying it’s not just a question of knowing if it’s okay to see a joke or not. Now it’s an entire lockdown on certain subject matters, specifically human rights abuses by China.
“Hey, I want to write a movie about the concentration camps in China and Muslims in concentration camps. I want to write a movie about someone who escapes,” said Apatow giving an example.
“No one would buy the pitch,” he said. “Instead of us doing business with China and that leading to China becoming more free, what has happened is a place like China has bought our silence with their money.” //
Hollywood’s obedience to China, and even that of sports leagues like the NBA, prove that all their talk of equality and goodness is just that…talk. When the rubber meets the road, Hollywood is fully ready to toss all of their signaled virtues into the wood chipper. Money means more than principles.
The Tibetan plateau, which serves as the source for 10 major rivers in Asia, provides water to hundreds of millions across the continent. But the Chinese regime has weaponized these waters to fuel its own industrialization, starving downstream Asian countries of this precious resource, China analyst and Tibetan activist Maura Moynihan says. //
For decades, Moynihan has traveled around the region, researching and reporting on issues facing Tibet. Her columns were previously published in outlets such as The Washington Post, but the appetite for her reporting ran dry “seemingly overnight” since the 2000s, she said. Media are now “basically doing the CCP’s bidding by removing any and all discussion of Tibet,” she added, referring to the Chinese Communist Party. //
The Chinese regime’s aggressive dam-building projects have allowed it to weaponize waters by shutting off supply to downstream countries, Moynihan said. //
For the past two years, the Mekong River—which originates in Tibet and flows through five Southeast Asian countries—has hit record-low water flows. This was caused not only by less rainfall, but also by China’s upstream hydropower dams that held back vast amounts of water, according to two reports this year.

Yes, Emirates does serve 225,000 meals per day.
Earlier this year Business Insider reported that Emirates serves 225,000 region-specific meals to passengers every day, and although it sounds crazy, it's true. The airline has 1,800 chefs who cater for about 520 flights per day. That breaks down to 209 meals per minute. Just let that sink in. //
The airline spent over $1 billion on catering in 2018.
The number sounds staggering, but given all the stats above (see 209 meals per minute), it's actually not that hard to believe Emirates invested more than one billion dollars into the 110 millions meals they served last year.
