Electricity is at the heart of modern economies and it is providing a rising share of energy services. Demand for electricity is set to increase further as a result of rising household incomes, with the electrification of transport and heat, and growing demand for digital connected devices and air conditioning.
Rising electricity demand was one of the key reasons why global CO2 emissions from the power sector reached a record high in 2018, yet the commercial availability of a diverse suite of low emissions generation technologies also puts electricity at the vanguard of efforts to combat climate change and pollution. Decarbonised electricity, in addition, could provide a platform for reducing CO2 emissions in other sectors through electricity-based fuels such as hydrogen or synthetic liquid fuels. Renewable energy also has a major role to play in providing access to electricity for all.
How to Convert GPT Disk to MBR Disk in Windows 10
GPT (GUID Partition Table) and MBR (Master Boot Record) are two different partition styles that can be used for a disk.
MBR disks use the standard BIOS partition table. GPT disks use unified extensible firmware interface (UEFI).
- Option One: Convert GPT Disk to MBR Disk using MiniTool Partition Wizard Free without Data Loss
- Option Two: Convert GPT Disk to MBR Disk using EaseUS Partition Master Free without Data Loss
- Option Three: Convert GPT Disk to MBR Disk using Disk Management with Data Loss
- Option Four: Convert GPT Disk to MBR Disk Disk using Diskpart command with Data Loss
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Thursday said hearing that Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts would not preside over former President Trump's upcoming impeachment trial "crystalized" the GOP argument that the proceedings are unconstitutional.
Paul emerged as a hero for Trump supporters this week after he used a little-known procedural tactic, a privileged constitutional point of order, to strike a severe blow to Democrats' hopes of convicting the former president on a House-passed article of impeachment.
Forty-five Republican senators voted this week to support Paul's motion that said Trump's impeachment trial is unconstitutional since he's no longer in office. //
Paul said the news that Senate President Pro Tempore Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) would preside over the second impeachment trial struck many Republicans as deeply unfair. Leahy voted to convict Trump on two articles of impeachment last year.
"The optics of the chief justice not coming and then also the optics of a person who had favored the last impeachment now presiding over the trial - who's also going to vote in the trial - it just didn't look right or sound right to any of us," he added.
Database of all HCQ COVID-19 studies. 237 studies, 171 peer reviewed, 195 comparing treatment and control groups. Submit updates/corrections below. HCQ is not effective when used very late with high dosages over a long period (RECOVERY/SOLIDARITY), effectiveness improves with earlier usage and improved dosing. Early treatment consistently shows positive effects. Negative evaluations typically ignore treatment time, often focusing on a subset of late stage studies.
South Dakota’s Gov. Kristi Noem has said that although it’s clear Democrat leadership does not work, the Republican Party has not done enough for the American people either and needs to reflect on how to keep the promises it’s made to constituents, particularly on healthcare and immigration. //
“We said we would reform health care, repeal ObamaCare. We have not done that. We said we would deal with immigration. We have not done that. There’s a lot of different promises that we’ve made to the American people that we just have not had the fortitude to pursue and actually get into place and impact their lives,” Noem continued. //
“So, the Republican Party has a self-evaluation they need to go through,” Noem said. “And we really need to focus on making sure we’re doing what we say. I’ve always watched every single president, and I’ve watched their actions of what they’ve actually put into place with policies. We as Republicans need to make sure we follow-through with everything we say we stand for as well.” //
Noem made an appeal to Republicans to reflect on the core values of the party, that are enshrined in the Constitution, which she said respects each individual’s God-given rights and freedoms. //
“President Trump did things of great magnitude for this country. What he did on tax reform, on trade deals, his support of Israel, his protection of our national defense, his enforcement of our laws,” Noem said.
“This man got up every single day and fought for the common everyday Americans so that they could have a chance to be successful and pursue the American dream. His legacy is going to be remembered as one of the greatest presidents that we’ve had because of the policies he pursued and the fact that he actually did what he campaigned on and he followed through on it,” she added.
As a whole, the US's utility-scale battery power is set to grow from 1.2 gigawatts in 2020 to nearly 7.5 gigawatts in 2025, according to Wood MacKenzie, a natural resources research and consulting firm. //
Globally, Gatti projects rapid growth in energy storage, reaching 1.2 terawatts (1,200 gigawatts) in the next decade. ///
We need ~ 100GW per year to combat climate change -- but this is only energy storage. Where does the energy come from?
UEFI makes your device more secure and faster than the legacy BIOS, and in this guide, we show you the steps to switch.
Converting MBR to GPT partition style (recommended)
To convert a drive using MBR to GPT on Windows 10, use these steps:
- Open Settings.
- Click on Update & Security.
- Click on Recovery.
- Under the "Advanced startup" section, click the Restart now button.
- Click the Troubleshoot option.
- Click on Advanced options.
- Click the Command Prompt option.
- Select your administrator account and sign in with your credentials (if applicable).
- Type the following command to validate that the drive meets the requirements and press Enter:
mbr2gpt /validate- Quick tip: The mbr2gpt.exe is located in the "System32" folder inside the "Windows" folder. If you want to see all the available options, you can use the mbr2gpt /? command.
- Type the following command to convert the drive from MBR to GPT and press Enter:
mbr2gpt /convert - Click the Close button in the top-right corner of the console.
- Click the Turn off your PC option.
After you complete the steps, several actions will take place, including validation of the drive and creation of an EFI system partition (ESP). The UEFI boot files and GPT components will be added to the partition. Then the MBR2GPT tool will update the Boot Configuration Data (BCD), and the previous letter will be added to the drive.
The United States Energy Information Administration recently released data on jet fuel consumption across the United States in 2019. It’s not just United States-based airlines drinking all this jet fuel. International airlines that fly in and out of the United States also refuel there. Their consumption contributes to the total. //
Unsurprisingly, jet fuel consumption was highest at the biggest airports in the most populous states. Aircraft flying in and out of California, home to Los Angeles and San Francisco Airports, consumed 106.2 million barrels of jet fuel in 2019. That’s 16.7% of the national total that year and almost double that of the closest runner up – Texas.
Aircraft passing through airports in Texas went through 58 million barrels of jet fuel in 2019. Rounding out the top five states are Florida, where aircraft drank 57 million barrels of jet fuel; New York, where 54 million barrels of jet fuel were used up; and Illinois, where airplanes got through 33 million barrels of jet fuel.
But today comes the announcement from Left that Citron will no longer be publishing its newsletter on targets for short investors. Citron will now be focusing on “long” investment opportunities — promoting the buying of shares of companies that Citron believes will go higher in the weeks and months ahead.
This is a bigger concession than one might imagine. A noted “short” investor is basically conceding that the “jig is up.” It is a recognition that a meaningful short position now has exposure to coordinated action by retail investors that will cost the short seller massive amounts of money over a very short period of time in circumstances where it is unlikely that the short investor can mitigate or avoid the loss. //
Now you have a prominent leader in the short-selling community on Wall Street waving a white flag of surrender to organized retail investors. This is a recognition that the GameStop maneuver can be replicated in the future, with the risk to short investors being immediate and potentially devasting.
Chalk this one up as a “W” for the Redditt buyers and an “L” for Wall Street.
Here he is apparently needing to read off of note cards just to know what executive orders he’s signing.
How do you need note cards for something so limited and simple? It’s kind of funny that even he believes President Donald Trump is still the president.

It is a mistake to turn the home of our democracy into a fortress. The Capitol needs to be safely open for constituents, press, and visitors.
Rep. Jennifer Wexton

I adamantly oppose this action.
A fence didn’t fail us. Law enforcement leaders did.
I believe we can keep Members, press, staff, my constituents, and all those who work here safe without walling off the symbol of our democracy.
It’s the People’s House—let’s keep it that way.

Madam Speaker, take down these fences!

So we won't build a wall to keep non-citizens from busting into our country illegally but we'll build a wall around the People's House to keep the citizens out. Got it. Got that America? You're not welcome in your own buildings.

Wall Street’s war on reddit and Robinhood isn’t about free markets or price transparency or longs vs. shorts or anything like that.
Wall Street institutions have crushed retail shorts with impunity for decades, even and especially when the shorts were right. (1/x)
What’s happening right now is Wall Street realizing that retail investors, whom Wall Street mocks as nothing more than dumb commission factories for big brokerages, actually have some power that Wall Street believes it has a divine right to wield. That cannot be allowed. (2/x)
The war on reddit and Robinhood is about putting retail investors in their place. Retail investors are not allowed to move markets. Only Wall Street institutions move markets. Retailers are not allowed to squeeze shorts. Only Wall Streeters are allowed to crush shorts. (3/x)
Wall Street, you see, is allowed to make money no matter what. That was the lesson of 2008. Who cares that it’s Wall Street who destroyed the housing market/economy by lying about the risk of their garbage mortgage derivatives? They were entitled to bailouts. (4/x)
Sure, millions lost their jobs and countless people lost their homes. The bankers got paid...with your money. They got bailed out...with your money. Sure, you lost your savings and home. But that’s what you get for being a dumb rube instead of a New York City banker. (5/x)
So don’t get conned by those claiming hedge funds are just trying to protect the markets and price transparency and efficiency and blah blah blah. This is a war between corrupt institutions and normal people, and the institutions simply will not allow the normals to win. (6/6)
Pathophysiological Basis and Rationale for Early Outpatient Treatment of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Infection
Approximately 9 months of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavius-2 (SARS-CoV-2 [COVID-19]) spreading across the globe has led to widespread COVID-19 acute hospitalizations and death. The rapidity and highly communicable nature of the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak has hampered the design and execution of definitive randomized, controlled trials of therapy outside of the clinic or hospital. In the absence of clinical trial results, physicians must use what has been learned about the pathophysiology of SARS-CoV-2 infection in determining early outpatient treatment of the illness with the aim of preventing hospitalization or death. This article outlines key pathophysiological principles that relate to the patient with early infection treated at home. Therapeutic approaches based on these principles include 1) reduction of reinoculation, 2) combination antiviral therapy, 3) immunomodulation, 4) antiplatelet/antithrombotic therapy, and 5) administration of oxygen, monitoring, and telemedicine. Future randomized trials testing the principles and agents discussed will undoubtedly refine and clarify their individual roles; however, we emphasize the immediate need for management guidance in the setting of widespread hospital resource consumption, morbidity, and mortality.
