When creating a pool, use disks with the same blocksize. A correlation between zfs "blocksize" and the disk blocksize is the ashift parameter (which cannot be modified after the pool creation). Either the value is set to "0" for auto blocksize recognition, or manually set to either ashift=12 for 4k blocksize disks or ashift=9 for 512b blocksize disks. Mixing disks with different blocksizes in the same pool can lead to caveats like performance leaks or inefficient space utilization.
You can interact more effectively with ZFS using the zdb tool. To check the vdev ashift used for the zpool, check the ZFS MOS configuration:
zdb -C <pool_name>
or
zdb -e <pool_name>
An edit decision list (EDL) contains information about edits that should be made to the video during playback. Edit decision list information is contained in a separate file to the video that is read by Kodi just before the video is played. Examples of use include can be to skip commercials, cut out content inappropriate for children, or skip over the half hour acid trip in 2001: A Space Odyssey .
Inspiration for this functionality came from MPlayer EDL support.
The internal video player (VideoPlayer) used by Kodi supports the following types of edits:
- Cut - the content is completely removed from playback as if it were never in the original video. For example, the total playback time is adjusted and the content is always automatically skipped during playback, seeking, fast forward or rewind.
- Mute - the audio is muted, video continues playing.
- Scene Marker - these can be used to seek to points of interest within a video similar to how chapter seeking works for DVDs.
- Commercial Break - each commercial break is automatically skipped once during playback.
We were failed by 20 years worth of general officers. There needs to be an accounting. No matter what dumbf*** calls Joe Biden made, the military had an obligation to anticipate, do better, and not blame Biden for them screwing the pooch as they did in the past 72 hours.

Anyone with 4-stars resign yet this weekend?
I distinctly remember all the gnashing of teeth and rending of clothes abt reducing a footprint in Syria a few years ago ... norms and all.
Anyone? Did I miss something?

something that not too many people know about........and might explain why we wasted so much there.
Afghanistan is thought to have about 1 trillion worth of lithium and other rare metals.
Now that we are leaving, will be interesting to watch how involved China becomes. //

Yah, that's why we were there for 20 years and never took out billions in rare minerals.
Cuz we stayed there to get them.
There’s a definitive answer to this question, and you can find it in RFC 8375: use home.arpa. Never heard of it before? It wasn’t assigned as a special purpose top-level domain (spTLD) name for residential and small networks until 2018.
The home.arpa spTLD isn’t a globally unique domain name, and you can’t resolve it across the internet. It’s only meant to be used inside a small network, such as your home network. Routers and DNS servers know, [in theory,] not to forward ARPA requests they don’t understand onto the public internet. //
You may have seen some suggest you use the .local spTLD instead. That is an older spTLD name used by the self-configuring Multicast DNS (mDNS) protocol (RFC 6762.) You should not configure your router or devices to use this domain name.
DNS clients may defer the resolution of .local spTLDs to the system’s mDNS resolvers instead of its DNS resolver. You can end up with domain resolution conflicts, or a situation where only some devices can resolve your domains. //
What domain name to use in a residential home or local area network most often comes up in the context of configuring the DHCP server on your router. Most gateway routers leave it empty by default, or may populate it with a domain assigned by your internet service provider (ISP). You can safely set it to home.arpa on your local network’s DHCP server.
Devices on your network should then assign themselves a example-device-hostname.home.arpa domain name. Please note that not all residential routers binds its DHCP leases’ host- and domain names to resolvable DNS entries in the router’s DNS server. You may not be able to resolve the home.arpa domains without additional configuration (or a different router or dedicated DNS server).
Your time is better spent ensuring all your devices support mDNS resolution than trying to fix DHCP lease bindings and DNS resolution on your router. //
Do not use undelegated domain names like .lan, .home, .homenet, .network, nor should you make up your own domain name. You can use a domain or a subdomain of a domain name you’ve bought from a domain registrar, however. This last option requires extra configuration of your router to work locally, and an advanced setup involving dynamic-domain names (DynDNS) to work over the internet.
This memo documents the fundamental truths of networking for the Internet community. This memo does not specify a standard, except in the sense that all standards must implicitly follow the fundamental truths. //
- The Fundamental Truths
(1) It Has To Work.
(2) No matter how hard you push and no matter what the priority, you can't increase the speed of light.
(2a) (corollary). No matter how hard you try, you can't make a baby in much less than 9 months. Trying to speed this up might make it slower, but it won't make it happen any quicker.
(3) With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine. However, this is not necessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they are going to land, and it could be dangerous sitting under them as they fly overhead.
(4) Some things in life can never be fully appreciated nor understood unless experienced firsthand. Some things in networking can never be fully understood by someone who neither builds commercial networking equipment nor runs an operational network.
(5) It is always possible to aglutenate multiple separate problems into a single complex interdependent solution. In most cases this is a bad idea.
(6) It is easier to move a problem around (for example, by moving the problem to a different part of the overall network architecture) than it is to solve it.
(6a) (corollary). It is always possible to add another level of indirection.
(7) It is always something
(7a) (corollary). Good, Fast, Cheap: Pick any two (you can't have all three).
(8) It is more complicated than you think.
(9) For all resources, whatever it is, you need more.
(9a) (corollary) Every networking problem always takes longer to solve than it seems like it should.
(10) One size never fits all.
(11) Every old idea will be proposed again with a different name and a different presentation, regardless of whether it works.
(11a) (corollary). See rule 6a.
(12) In protocol design, perfection has been reached not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.
The White Sox and Yankees will take part in the 2021 Field of Dreams Game, but it will not be held at the iconic field.
Instead, MLB has built a new stadium not too far off from the original ballpark from the 1989 film “Field of Dreams.”
Fans that head out to Dyersville, Iowa, can still walk over to the original field that brought Shoeless Joe Jackson out of the cornfields. And the players will still play with their backs to a cornfield as the outfield has chain link fence and windows that see through to several acres of corn.
The failed link alone is mirthful, but the implication that baseball is harboring a racial problem is also off-target. The MLB has one of the most diverse rosters in sports across all of its teams, probably second only to the NHL. Roughly 250 players from around 20 countries play in the big leagues. To look at the sport as a white man’s game is a conclusion you do not arrive at but one you show up with.
This is what happens when a journalist declares there just has to be a problem. A lack of evidence to support the claim does little to impede the reporting, while missing the much larger point.
1.1 MPlayer EDL
Classic MPlayer EDL files are supported. Kodi also supports an extended version of this file format that allows extra functionality as outlined below. The name of the file must be the same as the video file but with a file extension of .edl.
The file contains the start and end times of the edits along with the type of action associated with each edit. The file format is:
[start time] [end time] [action]
Start and end times can be defined as seconds, HH:MM:SS.sss, or frames. To specify frames precede the frame number with the # symbol. The original MPlayer EDL files only support seconds for start and end times.
The actions supported by this file format have also been extended by Kodi to include Scene Marker and Commercial Break actions since the original format only supports Cut and Mute. Supported actions are:
- 0 - Cut
- 1 - Mute
- 2 - Scene Marker (if start and end times are specified, the end time is used)
- 3 - Commercial Break
Five or six hours of sleep a few nights in a row can affect your judgment even if you don't feel sleepy.
You probably already know how important sleep is to your health and general well-being. You may even know that you need deep sleep every night to clear out the toxins that lead to Alzheimer's. But if you're running a company or managing a business, or just have a lot of work to do, it may seem to you that there's a tradeoff between getting as much sleep as you know you need and doing all the work that you need to get done. At least, I often feel that way.
It turns out that's the wrong way to look at it because scientific research shows exactly how much we suck at our jobs when we don't get plenty of sleep--at least seven hours a night and ideally eight-and-a-half hours. So it really isn't a tradeoff between getting enough sleep and getting the important stuff done. //
-
You can't focus.
-
Your judgment may be off.
-
You can't solve tough problems.
The presidency of Joseph Robinette Biden has been an unmitigated disaster from the get go. There’s no other way to say it, and the political left knows it as much as the right. //
Afghanistan may be the latest example of how Biden and his team (actually, mostly his team) took a Trumpy idea and butchered it. The same goes for his coronavirus strategy, his U.S. border policy, and even with the “infrastructure” bill. //
It’s not just a return to declinist, uniparty politics. Joe Biden’s government has thus far appealed to the worst instincts of a totalitarian left at home, and the worst instincts of the relativistic left abroad. Still, why should we be surprised? Even Barack Obama tried to warn America prior to the November 2020 election.
“Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to fuck things up,” Obama was quoted as saying last August. He went further, asserting: “And you know who really doesn’t have it? Joe Biden.”
