What Is Disk Signature Collision and How to Fix It?
  1. Search for Command Prompt and choose Run as AdministratorType in diskpart and press Enter.
  2. Type in list disk and press Enter to show all the available disks on your computer.
  3. You can see which disk is offline. Then, type in select disk ( stands the number of the offline disk) and press Enter.
  4. Type in unique disk ID=(New signature) and press Enter. The new signature should be a new ID in hexadecimal. For example, you can set the new id as uniqueid disk ID=BEFBB4AA.
  5. Type in online disk and press Enter.
  6. Type in list disk and press Enter to see whether the disk is online now.
bash - Running multiple commands in one line in shell - Stack Overflow

To summarize (non-exhaustively) bash's command operators/separators:

  • | pipes (pipelines) the standard output (stdout) of one command into the standard input of another one. Note that stderr still goes into its default destination, whatever that happen to be.
  • |&pipes both stdout and stderr of one command into the standard input of another one. Very useful, available in bash version 4 and above.
  • && executes the right-hand command of && only if the previous one succeeded.
  • || executes the right-hand command of || only it the previous one failed.
  • ; executes the right-hand command of ; always regardless whether the previous command succeeded or failed. Unless set -e was previously invoked, which causes bash to fail on an error.
[HowTo] Embedded N4F auto renew SSL certs + web UI + syncthing UI - XigmaNAS

I wanted to use acme.sh (https://github.com/Neilpang/acme.sh) to generate my internal SSL certificates with Let's Encrypt using the ACME protocol. I also wanted to automate the renewal said certs and use them with the web UI (lighttpd) and with the syncthing UI on my embedded N4F system. I've summarized my method below. The rough procedure is as follows:

  • Installing packages on embedded system
  • Meeting prereqs for acme.sh
  • Running acme.sh and scheduling with cron
  • Importing the certs for the web UI and syncthing
Skeptical About Electrical - Plane & Pilot Magazine

From most publications and individuals with a platform from which to comment on such things, the coverage is breathlessly positive, merely reprints of glossy press releases in an impressive show of “suspension of common sense.”

Do electric airplanes fly? Well, of course they do! We’ve known that since the early 1970s. Spin a propeller fast enough, even if you use a giant rubber band to do it, and you’ll create enough thrust to get a light plane off the ground. The fatal flaw, that single thing standing in the way of effective use of electric-powered aircraft, is very well understood and easily summed up in two words—“energy density.’’ //

The amount of energy that can be stored and released on demand, be it in a battery or avgas or a twisted rubber band, per unit of mass is known as specific energy.

Es = E/m, that is, specific energy=kilowatt hours/pounds.

What this means is, the higher the specific energy, the more energy you will get out of a pound of whatever it is you’re storing it in. This is the “fatal flaw” I mentioned earlier. The specific energy of 100LL avgas is about 47, while the best lithium-ion battery around is about 1. Put another way, 10 pounds of battery will store 1,200 watt/hours of energy while 10 pounds (1.66 gallons) of 100LL contains 48,000 watt/hours. No clue on the rubber band. //

From a practical perspective, avgas gives you options. If you need to carry a fourth passenger in a 172, merely reduce the fuel load. Need to do that in an electric 172? Ah, no. ///

A gas turbine generator using just one of the two engines on a 737 puts out 30+MW.

I don't think that an airplane like the 737 can carry 100MWh of energy in batteries and still have usable payload.

What are the shell's control and redirection operators? - Unix & Linux Stack Exchange

Q:

I often see tutorials online that connect various commands with different symbols. For example:

command1 | command2
command1 & command2
command1 || command2
command1 && command2

Others seem to be connecting commands to files:

command1 > file1
command1 >> file1

What are these things? What are they called? What do they do? Are there more of them?

A:

These are called shell operators and yes, there are more of them. I will give a brief overview of the most common among the two major classes, control operators and redirection operators, and how they work with respect to the bash shell.

Lessons Learned

On October 4, 1992, at 17:20 UTC, El Al Israel Airlines (ELY) Flight 1862, a Boeing 747-200 freighter series airplane with three crewmembers and one non-revenue passenger customer on board, took off from Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The aircraft was on a flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, to Ben Gurion International Airport, Tel Aviv, with an intermediate stop at Schiphol Airport for a crew change and cargo processing.

The weather was clear and dry at the time of the late afternoon (dusk) departure. The maintenance transit check had been performed prior to departure with no significant defects recorded.

Less than 10 minutes after takeoff, at 17:27.30 and at an altitude of 6,500 feet, the flight data recorder indicated the number 3 and 4 engines and their struts departed the aircraft. The co-pilot transmitted an emergency call: "El Al 1862, mayday, mayday, we have an emergency."

How To Run Multiple Linux Commands at Once in Linux Terminal

Note that all of these are operators, not commands:

  • && — this is a logical AND and is used to chain multiple commands; commands to the right of the operator are executed if the command to the left succeeds
  • || — this is the logical OR and is used to chain multiple commands; commands to the right of the operator are executed if the command to the left fails
  • / — not a command, not an operator. Period.
  • ; — this is a command delineator or separator; you use it to separate commands where you want all of them to execute
  • {} (and () ) — operators that do a bunch of stuff; I tend to use () for grouping commands into one “unit”, and use {} for its command line expansions (a bit complicated to go into right here)
Update the Webgui certificate - XigmaNAS

For the lighttpd WebGUI web server, follow the below steps:
In System > Advanced > rc.conf,

  • set lighttpd_certpem_webgui to NO. This will tell the lighttpd WebGUI instance to ignore the certificate shown in the WebGUI.
  • set lighttpd_certpem to the full qualified file name of your certificate, this should be a permanent location which you can update via ssh.
Whenever the certificate gets updated, the lighttpd service must be restarted as well.

For the lighttpd websrv web server, follow the below steps:
In System > Advanced > rc.conf,

  • set websrv_certpem_webgui to NO. This will tell the lighttpd websrv instance to ignore the certificate shown in the WebGUI.
  • set websrv_certpem to the full qualified file name of your certificate, this should be a permanent location which you can update via ssh.
Whenever the certificate gets updated. the websrv service must be restarted as well.
AMD, Intel, look away - here’s a new 128-core rival with more transistors than the Apple M1 Max | TechRadar

Chinese bare metal and dedicated server purveyor Alibaba Cloud has unveiled a new custom-built processor called the Yitian 710, a cloud-first server CPU built on TSMC’s 5nm manufacturing process (the same as Apple’s new M1 Max and M1 Pro) with a staggering 60 billion transistors.

In comparison, Apple’s processor - the M1 Max - has 57 billion transistors, while the AWS Graviton 2 and the AMD EPYC Rome server processors have around 30 and 40 billion transistors each respectively.

Based on Arm’s v9 architecture, the Yitian 710 packs a staggering 128 cores and can reach speeds of up to 3.2GHz and supports up to eight DDR5 memory channels and 96 PCIe 5.0 lanes. We know that it is a muti-processor platform as well.
