It’s in that sense that ‘Oh My God’ is biblical, not because Adele illumines a path that is holy or righteous but because she shows us how sin so often works.
When we read about airplane accidents, the persons involved may appear as two-dimensional beings defined by one or more characteristics—impatience, laziness, ignorance—or as faceless figures with no characteristics at all. But real people, and the situations in which they find themselves, possess many complexities. All the more when the cast consists not of a single pilot but of a whole group of pilots and their passengers, many of whom are pilots themselves. Many accidents have demonstrated that the presence of multiple pilots, when they are not operating as a disciplined crew, does not increase the safety of a flight.
Trump's political appointees at the Commerce Department, which oversees the bureau, demonstrated an "unusually" high level of "engagement in technical matters, which is unprecedented relative to the previous censuses," according to a September 2020 email that Ron Jarmin — the bureau's deputy director — sent to two other top civil servants.
At the time, the administration was faced with the reality that if Trump lost the November election he could also lose a chance to change the census numbers used to redistribute political representation. The window of opportunity was closing for his administration to attempt to radically reshape the futures of the U.S. House of Representatives and the Electoral College. //
Despite the 14th Amendment's requirement to include the "whole number of persons in each state," Trump wanted to exclude unauthorized immigrants from the census counts used to reallocate each state's share of congressional seats and electoral votes. //
Trump officials — including Wilbur Ross, who served as commerce secretary — however, "expressed interest" in many technical areas, including exactly how the bureau could produce a state-by-state count of unauthorized immigrants and citizenship data that could have politically benefited Republicans when voting districts are redrawn.
CALC2QIF is the OpenOffice version of XL2QIF. It is a Calc (OpenOffice spreadsheet) macro that converts data to QIF format, the format used by Money, Quicken, GNUCash.... to import transactions.
CALC2QIF is optimized for frequent conversions, it supports also different date formats (US, Europe, pre/post 2000).
Japanese Geostationary Satellite 'Himawari-8' captured an eruption of a volcano near Tonga. Not only the eruption but also the shock wave can be seen. On the other hand, the terminator between daylight and night caught up with the shock wave. This means the terminator runs faster than the speed of sound, that is, the surface speed of the Earth's rotation exceeds the speed of sound, and we are rotating at supersonic speeds!
The EU Taxonomy for sustainable activities (EU Taxonomy) became law in July 2020, but the law left several decisions to be finalized in “delegated acts.” These decisions required additional technical evaluation. The treatment of nuclear energy was one of those technical issues. On December 31, 2021, a draft delegated act was published that recognized that nuclear energy could make a substantial contribution to the reduction of CO2 emissions.
In other words, nuclear energy is considered a sustainable, “green” investment. There are some conditions that are still being debated. //
As a result of intensive politicking and compromise, the delegated act also includes provisions for the inclusion of natural gas in the EU Taxonomy. Both nuclear energy and natural gas are recognized as useful tools, but both technologies must meet specific conditions and restrictions to be considered “sustainable.”
Including natural gas sounds like a cop-out to many climate activists, but it is part of a political compromise seen as necessary to avoid German rejection of the delegated act. Replacing coal with natural gas might be a reasonable step forward for the climate, but it risks deepening European energy dependence on Russia. That’s not one of the considerations influencing the EU Taxonomy.
Many articles on this subject give the impression that there is a balance between the countries that oppose nuclear and those who want it to be recognized for its obvious attributes. Those articles usually list Germany as leading a group of opponents and France leading a group of supporters. Most of those articles name two or three countries in each camp.
There are five EU members that strong oppose nuclear’s inclusion (Germany, Austria, Denmark, Luxembourg and Spain) while there are at least 10 who have formally expressed their support to the European Commission in a letter sent in mid December 2021 (France, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Romania). After that letter was sent, the Netherlands announced that their CO2 reduction plans would include a major reliance on nuclear power.
Joe Biden has turned out to be the great unifier alright. He’s got most everyone silently agreeing that he’s demented. Where is the universal condemnation of these acts, this behavior, and that divisive man who lies so easily and blithely?
And therein lies the emerging danger of this 46th aberrant presidency. Just as various forms of flu and COVID variants are becoming everyday endemic in our lives, we are as a society coming to accept this amazingly incompetent president as endemically part of our shared national life.
The excuse: What can anyone do about it, right? The media, which was handed its constitutional protections to hold accountable officials on all sides, is certainly doing little to question the dangerous situation. Democrats in Congress know many of them are about to be evicted in midterm elections come November. They’re not going to point out the emperor’s invisible attire. //
Biden is so insecure and/or dim that he’s incapable of realizing how forgiving and how much credit Americans are prepared to award a leader who at least appears to be humble, admits mistakes, seeks support. //
Meanwhile, we cannot allow ourselves to become accustomed to and comfortable with this dolt in office, to wince at his incoherence and rampant stupidities and let them pass. That’s what that crowd is counting on.
“Oh, it’s just goofy ol’ Uncle Joe.” That’s been his crutch and excuse for decades. Too dangerous now. Because Uncle Joe has a quick temper — and the nuclear launch codes.
A federal court refused to grant a request by Marc Elias, the Democrat operative who helped run the Russia collusion hoax, to rescind their sanctions against him for deceiving judges in his attempts to fight Republicans in Texas who pushed back on bad election practices by banning straight-ticket voting in the 2020 election.
Elias, who worked as Hillary Clinton’s top campaign lawyer in 2016 and served as legal counsel to now-Vice President Kamala Harris when she ran for president in 2020, was first sanctioned by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit in March for deceptively refiling a motion to the court after it was previously denied. Two of the three judges on the panel agreed to sanction Elias and his team for the shady attempt to lie to the court. Elias was quickly scolded by the judges for lacking “candor” in a courtroom setting. //
After legal counsel for Elias demanded that the judges rethink the “unprecedented” penalties and asked for an appeals court hearing to remove the sanctions, the judges unanimously refused.
XL2QIF is an Excel Add-In that converts data to QIF format, the format used by Money and Quicken to import transactions.
XL2QIF is optimized for frequent conversions, it supports also different date formats (US, Europe, pre/post 2000).
When you install this macro, there is a new XL2QIF menu added to Excel with an item to create a QIF file (Save to QIF) and an item to import a QIF file (Load from QIF).
It's also possible to choose the language at the first installation. You can choose French or English. After that the macro will never ask again for the language.
This is my interpretation of how the Axis won WW2 in the timeline of The man in the high castle on what is mentioned. It is not the most accurate way the war could have gone but I had to fill in the missing info with the most likely results still in Axis favor.
On February 15, 1933, Franklin D. Roosevelt is assassinated by Giuseppe Zangara. Afterward, the United States is subsequently led by John Garner (FDR's vice president) and then by Republican John Bricker. These presidents led to the destabilization of the country and both failed to enact the New Deal to pull the country from the Great Depression. They continued to maintain an isolationist philosophy during the war and, as a result, they were unable to support the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union and they are unable to protect The World from the rise of the Axis threat of the Greater Nazi Reich and the Japanese Empire.
Frustrated. Disappointed. Nervous.
Those are the three of the main things Joe Biden is making Americans feel right now, according to a new CBS/YouGov poll. Only 26 percent of Americans think things in the country are going well.
Emirates appears to have repeated an advertising stunt undertaken in late 2021. Once again, the Dubai-based carrier filmed a stunt actor standing on top of the Burj Khalifa. However, this time she has the company of her “friends”, an Airbus A380 wearing the “marmite” Expo 2020 livery. //
After the stunt-woman is seen at the top of the world’s tallest building, she holds a card saying, “Finally, here come my friends”. The shot then turns to show one of Emirates’ Airbus A380s flying towards the tower before it passes behind our fearless main character with an impressive bank angle. //
It would appear that the advert was filmed on October 13th and 14th (the original advert aired in August 2021 before the first Expo livery was even applied to an aircraft). Ahead of these days, Emirates issued an advisory that it would be flying the Expo liveried jet low over the city of Dubai to promote the Expo 2020 festival.
"An N95 is more protective because it has a better face seal in general than a KN95 or a KF94," explains Aaron Collins, a mechanical engineer with a background in aerosols science. He's also known as the Mask Nerd because he's been testing hundreds of masks over the last year and a half. (You can explore a master spreadsheet of his results here.)

N95s are strapped to your head with a headband, which gives them a snug fit – and with masks, a tight fit is key to better protection. In its new guidance, the CDC notes that N95s and other NIOSH-approved respirators are the most protective options.
By contrast, both KF94s and KN95s attach with ear loops, which many people find more comfortable but don't seal quite as tightly to your face. //
N95s are made to U.S. government standards put out by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and are rigorously tested, so they're a reliable choice. KF94 is a South Korean standard, and they're regulated by the Korean government. "Every [KF94] I've tested so far has been extremely high performing," Collins says.
KN95 is a Chinese respirator standard, but these respirators aren't strictly regulated by the Chinese government, according to both Collins and Anne Miller of Project N95, a nonprofit organization that connects consumers with legitimate masks and other PPE. While you can find some good KN95s (the ones made by Powecom have done well in tests), low-quality or outright fake KN95s have been a problem throughout the pandemic. //
Can I re-use an N95 or other respirator?
Yes, though Miller advises following the "brown bag decontamination method." Basically, if you need to wear a respirator all day for your job, at the end of the day, put it in a brown paper bag or hang it up in a cool, dry place. The idea is to let it rest for five days so any viral particles trapped on it can die off. Label the bags Monday mask, Tuesday mask, etc. The CDC advises reusing an N95 respirator no more than five times. (Health workers shouldn't reuse them.) Using this guideline, a rotation of just five respirators could last you 25 days, Miller notes.
What if you only don an N95 for a quick trip to the store every now and then? Then think about your respirator's total lifespan being about 40 hours of use, Miller advises – the equivalent of five eight-hour days. If the respirator is dirty or getting harder to breathe through, or the straps have gotten stretched out, it's time to toss it out.
