Arguing With a Democrat: A Sign of the Times

Out of the clear blue sky yesterday, a Democrat lawyer emailed this one-liner to a China newsgroup list in reply to an article posted by the moderator on a report in the Korea Times that a reservoir dam that provides the hydroelectric power for the North Korean nuclear complex at Yongbyon had been breached:

THIS is what a real leader, a real President, a real American and a real man would do. //

However, that one-liner served as the equivalent of a red flag to a bull, and I responded as follows:

No, that’s not the way it works. One would think that you as a lawyer would know better, but then you unmasked yourself as a Democrat hack by implying that President Trump isn’t a “real leader, real President, a real American, and a real man.” And in reply to an article that was posted to the group that had nothing to do with the US Supreme Court, no less. Your gratuitous one-liner requires a detailed response:

The political divisions that existed during the Eisenhower era were kindergarten squabbles compared to today’s political chasm. For example, I don’t recall Democrat-condoned/instigated rioting and anarchy in the streets in the ’50s. Nor do I recall the Truman administration working to undermine Eisenhower’s campaign and presidency through the equivalent of an illegal counter-intel investigation and Russian and Ukrainian hoaxes, either.

There is NOTHING in the Constitution requiring a “political balance” in the USSC.

Remember the Strzok-Page “Insurance Policy” Exchange – FBI Special Agent Barnett Exposes the Hole Card

There was never an investigation of General Flynn. There was a file opened. But nothing was ever done according to Agent Barnett. And nothing would have ever been done if Donald Trump had not won the election — according to Page and Strzok.

The opening of an investigation of General Flynn — “Crossfire Razor” — was the “insurance policy” in the event Donald Trump was elected. Page, Papadolopous, and Manafort were not going to be in the Trump Administration — all had left the campaign by the fall of 2016, so they would not have access to classified information or otherwise be helpful to the Russians. But Comey, McCabe, Strzok, and Page knew Flynn would be in the Administration. Having Crossfire Razor open BEFORE the election meant the FBI could continue investigating the Trump Administration after candidate Trump became President-Elect Trump, and then after the inauguration as well, without having to say they only opened the investigation after Trump’s victory.

Agent Barnett said there wasn’t much “predicate” to support the investigation of General Flynn, yet on August 15, 2016, Lisa Page and Peter Strzok have already concluded that General Flynn has connections to Russia and Putin that meant he should not have access to classified information.

It is a violation of FBI policy to open a counterintelligence case file on a US Person with no present intention to conduct a counterintelligence investigation of the US Person. It might even be a crime.

And yet that is exactly what Special Agent Barnett says FBI Deputy Assistant Director for Counterintelligence Peter Strzok did with regard to General Michael Flynn, decorated U.S. war hero.

White House Deploying Team of ‘Knife Fighters’ to Battle Smear Campaign Against Amy Coney Barrett

The White House appears to be fully prepared for the political bar fight that will erupt once the confirmation process for Supreme Court nominee Judge Amy Coney Barrett begins on Oct. 12. An exclusive Fox News report revealed that the Trump administration has assembled a team of “knife fighters” to deploy when the brawl breaks out. ///

Be prepared to defend and protect your nominee, thank you

A380 fan-hub disintegration traced to misunderstood ‘cold dwell’ fatigue | News | Flight Global

French investigators have traced the serious engine failure involving an Air France Airbus A380 over Greenland to a phenomenon known as ‘cold dwell’ fatigue, which had caused a failure in a fan hub slot which houses the root of the fan blade.

The analysis by investigation authority BEA closes a particularly difficult inquiry which had involved a technically-challenging search for fan-hub components from the Engine Alliance GP7200 powerplant, buried in deep snow in remote Greenland, parts which were only recovered 21 months after the 30 September 2017 accident.

Before the retrieval of these crucial components, Engine Alliance had considered that – based on its in-service experience – tool damage from incorrect maintenance was the most likely scenario behind the failure. //

Titanium alloys are vulnerable to creep – a stress deformation – at relatively low temperatures, and the phenomenon has previously been linked to premature fan disk fractures in the 1970s. Dwell fatigue arises from maintained stresses during flight.

Several factors affect the sensitivity of titanium alloys to cold dwell fatigue, says the inquiry, but particular alloys such as Ti-6-4, owing to their chemical composition, were considered as having “little or no sensitivity” to the phenomenon at the time of the GP7200’s certification.

“This was in part due to the significant number of service hours logged by Ti-6-4 components without any incidents,” says the inquiry.

“Although there had been in-depth research into this phenomenon with respect to certain alloys, the mechanisms at the origin of the initiation of a cold dwell fatigue crack were still not completely understood.”

If Anything, the New York Times Makes the Case for Comprehensive Tax Reform

The system is built to benefit rich businessmen like Trump. I don’t hold it against him. He’s doing nothing that the tax code wasn’t sculpted by the rich and powerful businessmen, corporations, and their lobbyists to allow.

Seventh Circuit Overturns Obama Judge Ruling That Would Have Extended Wisconsin’s Election by a Week

There is no conceivable reason to count ballots arriving nearly a week after the election and certifying them as valid based on a “postmark,” which will not be the subject to poll watcher observation. The only reason to permit this atrocity is to allow absentee ballots to be inserted into the process that were completed after the polls had closed and preliminary findings had been announced. A secondary reason would be to keep the outcome of the election unknown for a week, perhaps with leads changing hands, and thereby destroy the faith people must have that their elections are free and fair. //

We are in a battle for the future of the nation here, and when the smoke clears in some 50-odd days, if we are the ones still standing, we need to make damned sure the people who are so blatantly and corruptly attempting to use the courts to swing elections are not allowed to do that ever again.

The Supreme Court — AFTER Judge Barrett Is Sworn in — Will Be Forced to Address Judicial Modifications of State Election Laws

Over the past several weeks, we have begun to see decisions come out of the Courts where these challenges have been filed, and the level of Judicial “Solomonic Wisdom” that pervades the outcomes is simply breathtaking.

I cannot even begin to catalog the patchwork quilt of decisions and justifications that have flowed out of Courts — and I’m not even referring to changes to state election laws hastily adopted in Democrat-controlled states.

Aerodynamic impact of engine damage surprised A380 incident crew | News | Flight Global

The Air France aircraft, en route to Los Angeles on 30 September 2017, suffered the failure of its outboard right-hand Engine Alliance GP7200 powerplant as the jet was climbing from 37,000ft to 38,000ft.

Air France procedures for engine failure in cruise require the crew to set power at maximum continuous thrust and to determine the maximum engine-out altitude, which is calculated by the flight-management system.

This maximum engine-out altitude enables the aircraft, at maximum continuous thrust, to maintain level flight at the long-range cruise speed – the Mach number at which the specific flight range is 99% of the maximum flight range. //

Airbus calculated that the long-range cruise speed of the aircraft, at the time of the failure, was just under 289kt – which would have given a maximum altitude of 34,000ft.

But French investigation authority BEA states that the calculation of engine-out altitude assumes the failed engine is windmilling and does not take into account possible deterioration of aerodynamic performance, notably the additional drag resulting from seized rotors or other uncontained failure damage.

The A380’s entire fan hub disintegrated during the incident, shearing off the engine inlet.

Opinion: The Steps Towards Revolution or Hostile Takeover From Within (Part I, Introduction)

There is an interesting graphic going around on Twitter. It appears to portray the levels and activities of civil uncoupling before open guerrilla warfare breaks out and we have a full-blown revolution happening. Here is the Tweet and the diagram.

You can see the pyramid has multiple levels showing activities that take place before there is an open, armed revolt against the constituted government. /)

Back in the day, I used to teach this at the JFK Special Warfare Center at Fort Bragg. One thing that has stuck with me since that brief time in my life is a very hard truth and its even harder analog. The hard truth is that before the first guerrilla picks up a gun and kills a police officer or Soldier, the revolution or precursors to it, have been going for at least 10 years prior. Of course, the analog to that says that once you’ve defeated the insurgency, killed, captured, or jailed the leaders, there is still a decade or more of work to do to get back to a condition of popularly supported stability.

Over the next few days, we’ll explore the USASOC graphic. We will talk about what is happening and the part these activities play in a successful insurgency. As we all know, You can’t tell the players without a scorecard. To get at that info, we’ll rely on a bit of Latin, cui bono? Who benefits?

NY Times Story on Trump’s Tax Records Actually Proves Trump Was Telling the Truth, Blows Apart Dem Conspiracies

The New York Times says it was someone who had a legal right to the data. But that doesn’t mean they had a legal right to leak it. Money bet is obviously on Democrats trying to do a hit on Trump in the final days before the election. And there’s definitely got to be an investigation into this because there’s no question the leak was illegal/improper, even if the person who leaked it might have been legally allowed to have the information.

But while Democrats were trying to do a hit on Trump, it may turn out to have the opposite effect.

Trump has been saying that he wasn’t releasing his taxes because he was under audit. Indeed, according to the New York Times, Trump has, in fact, been under an audit for about ten years, proving he was telling the truth.

The reason why is actually rather funny and all because of Barack Obama.

Business losses can work like a tax-avoidance coupon: A dollar lost on one business reduces a dollar of taxable income from elsewhere. The types and amounts of income that can be used in a given year vary, depending on an owner’s tax status. But some losses can be saved for later use, or even used to request a refund on taxes paid in a prior year.

Until 2009, those coupons could be used to wipe away taxes going back only two years. But that November, the window was more than doubled by a little-noticed provision in a bill Mr. Obama signed as part of the Great Recession recovery effort. Now business owners could request full refunds of taxes paid in the prior four years, and 50 percent of those from the year before that.

So, if you have any issue with the way Trump got a refund and then didn’t have to pay more, blame Barack Obama; it was perfectly legal because of the law that he signed. So Democrats really can’t attack Trump for using a law they put in place that he was perfectly entitled to use. Bottom line? I want someone who actually has the business acumen to employ what he can within the law, that’s the guy I want in charge of the economy.

Another big item to put paid to Democratic collusion theories — the NY Times found no previously unknown ties to Russia in the records. Or anything apparently illegal. That was another thing which Democrats have been hoping to find and that just got blown apart big time.

Now, the President has disputed the accuracy of some of what the New York Times has said. No doubt he’s bothered that someone illegally leaked the information. But seriously, not only doesn’t it seem to be troubling, it looks on first blush like it puts paid to all the Democratic conspiracy theories against him.

So nice job, New York Times!
