what to do if you ever come in contact with a cougar, especially if you’re an avid hiker or trail runner. They suggest that you:

Stop. Never run from a cougar and do not approach the cougar
Maintain eye contact with the animal
Stand up tall
Do not crouch or squat
Make yourself look bigger by raising and waving your arms or jacket above your head
Talk firmly in a loud voice, back away slowly, and leave the area
Pick up children and pets or keep them very close
Fight back if you are attacked! Protect your head and neck

When Science Conflicts With Politics, WHO Chooses Politics

Odds are, the growing public opposition to the lockdowns, and news of a return to normal in places like Sweden, made WHO’s support for the measures untenable.

After This Declaration, No One Can Say 'Science' Demands Lockdowns

While left-leaning media and pundits claim that evidence and science guide their decisions, the Great Barrington Declaration proves their ignorance and dishonesty. //

Last week, the three leading scientists drafted and posted The Great Barrington Declaration, a public petition calling for an end to the lockdowns and returning life to its pre-pandemic norm, except for the most vulnerable segments of our population.

The authors of the Great Barrington Declaration said they were driven by their “grave concerns about the damaging physical and mental health impacts of the prevailing COVID-19 policies.” Since its release, more than 13,000 infectious disease epidemiologists, public health scientists, medical practitioners, and more than 180,000 members of the general public, have signed the petition. //

The third reason the Great Barrington Declaration has gained such popular support from other medical experts and the general public is that it offers a “compassionate” way forward. It calls for replacing indiscriminate lockdown policies with “Focused Protection,” meaning focusing on protecting the most vulnerable. such as seniors. It offers some ideas such as regularly testing nursing home workers and delivering food and essentials to seniors who live at home. //

Such an approach will allow our society to eventually build herd immunity, “when a large portion of a community (the herd) becomes immune to a disease, making the spread of disease from person to person unlikely.” According to the Great Barrington Declaration, herd immunity is the best way to protect all of us in the long run, and “focused protection” is the least harmful way to achieve such immunity.

Chicago Tribune Says Black Leaders in Large Midwest Cities See a Lack of Enthusiasm for Biden/Harris with Younger Black Voters

“Unlike their elders, who came up with fresh memories of civil rights activism, young folks aren’t willing to tolerate voting for the ‘lesser of two evils.’ They told us they would just as soon stay home,” said Sam Fulwood, a fellow at American University’s Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies….

“There is a level of disenfranchisement and disengagement,” he added. Woodbury also argued that some of Trump’s messages have resonated with younger Black voters in particular. In focus groups, according to Woodbury, younger Black voters often mention the criminal justice reform bill that the president signed into law, his support for increased funding for historically Black colleges and the low Black unemployment rate before the coronavirus outbreak.

“A lot of people have had their eyes opened to the importance of voting, with the death of George Floyd and the civil unrest, but they don’t believe Joe Biden would be the person who would really do anything different,” she said. “A lot of voters I talk to — the younger ones especially — aren’t just going to go out and vote for Biden because he says, ‘If you’re Black, you vote for me.’ ”

Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett has seven kids. And don’t you dare forget it. - The Washington Post

The show’s ending is preordained: “All the Republicans will vote yes; all the Democrats will vote no,” Graham said. He was really just holding the hearings to be polite. And then he puffed himself up on sanctimony and warned that everyone should be on their best behavior because “the world is watching.”

What exactly did the world see — if it hasn’t already turned away from this country in horror? It saw children used as messaging devices. It saw Sen. John Neely Kennedy (R-La.) describe the 2018 confirmation hearings for Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh as a “freak show,” because apparently asking a Supreme Court nominee to address credible accusations of sexual assault is against the natural order of things. “It looked like the cantina bar scene out of ‘Star Wars,’ ” Kennedy added. The world saw flailing Democrats and self-righteous Republicans.

And the world saw Barrett. She sat at the witness table in the center of it all wearing a non-wrinkling dress in a jubilant shade of magenta, a strand of pearls and a dark face mask. And while the hearing was ostensibly about Barrett, she spent the vast majority of it silent and nearly immobile. It was a feat of self-control that she didn’t appear to fidget or even furrow her brow. She didn’t fold her arms across her chest in a defensive posture as Democrats declared her a menace to liberal society. She didn’t lean in as Republicans anointed her a maternal Wonder Woman in judicial robes.

Barrett simply sat and blinked. And when she finally spoke, for just about 12 minutes, it was to make a few key points about her cultural identity. If confirmed, she would be the only justice who had not attended those bastions of East Coast elitism, Harvard or Yale; she graduated law school at Notre Dame. She believes in the power of prayer.

And she would be the first mother of school-age children to serve on the court.

Chris Wallace Goes Full Hack Again, Completely Bungles Supreme Court History

The idea that the Senate saying absolutely nothing negative about Merrick Garland and simply choosing not to take up his nomination is somehow the beginning of the current Supreme Court insanity is so historically wrong as to be laughable. Democrats, led by Joe Biden, destroyed Robert Bork with lie after lie. They accused him of the worst evils and this was decades before Garland was ever nominated. //

Garland was not mistreated. It is not mistreatment or wrong to not confirm a nominee if they don’t have the votes. What is mistreatment and wrong is accusing Brett Kavanaugh of rape, Robert Bork of back alley abortions, and Amy Coney Barrett of being in a cult.

The fact is that Republicans have never treated a Democrat nominee the way Democrats treat Republican nominees. Even Elena Kagan and Sonya Sotomayor got GOP votes to confirm despite their radical ideologies.

Tik Tok Tried Sabotaging Republicans Again but Ended Up Helping Them Bigly

To deter tricksters, a $5 non-refundable fee was added to the online sign-up but apparently, these super smart and totally clever Tik Tok tricksters aren’t reading the fine print according to the New York Post:

“But they kept coming,” Lantry said. “From Colorado and California and Chicago and Houston, all over the country.”

Multiple “Ruth Ginsbergs” — from Salisbury, Md., and Greensboro, N.C. — gladly paid for their ducats.

By the time the Oct. 3 rally began in a commercial parking lot on the South Shore, the Trump-haters had shelled out $15,785 to buy more than 3,000 vouchers they had no intention of using.

“They hate this president so much that they’re willing to donate to the Republican Party to troll him,” Lantry said

Talk about a task failing successfully.

The funny part is that the seat reservations weren’t really even noticed because it was an open-air rally which was attended by 2,500 locals.

California AG (Illogically) Orders State GOP to Dismantle Ballot Harvesting Boxes

Over the weekend ballot collection boxes sponsored by the California GOP were set up in numerous counties throughout the state, including Fresno, Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura, presumably in an effort to conduct pandemic-friendly ballot harvesting, which is legal in the state. Word of the boxes’ existence spread quickly on social media, with the state’s Democrats suddenly clutching their pearls and worrying about ballot security.Over the weekend ballot collection boxes sponsored by the California GOP were set up in numerous counties throughout the state, including Fresno, Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura, presumably in an effort to conduct pandemic-friendly ballot harvesting, which is legal in the state. Senator Melissa Melendez
@senatormelendez
California State law is silent on where ballots must be held in the three days between someone dropping their ballot off with a harvester and the harvester turning it in.

What republicans are doing is legal, no matter what threats the Secretary of State makes. //

As the Los Angeles Times’ John Myers tweeted, there is no evidence that Republicans placed the private dropboxes with ill intent. They simply, amazingly, decided to utilize the laws Democrats passed to help themselves, to their own advantage. Refusing to bow to the demands of Becerra and Padilla is the right move. Let them attempt to arrest people.

CDC Study Finds Overwhelming Majority Of People Getting Coronavirus Wore Masks

Over 70 percent of the case-patients who were contaminated with the virus fell ill despite “always” wearing a mask. //

the report suggests that “direction, ventilation, and intensity of airflow might affect virus transmission, even if social distancing measures and mask use are implemented according to current guidance.”

Interesting Decision on Election Law Challenge in Minnesota – Probably Too Late for a Different Outcome

So, not necessarily the outcome that GOP interests would like to have, but the correct outcome on the law nevertheless.

For the record, that website does not exist. It’s also extremely odd that he would have forgotten already which way he came in and where he’s supposed to go after the speech. That kind of stuff is self-evident to those with all their mental faculties. You came in the door on the side of the stage? That’s where you go out. It’s not a maze, it’s a small auditorium. //

What we do know is that there’s next to no chance he finishes a term if he wins in November. That means Kamala Harris is the defacto top of the ticket. Vote accordingly.

New CDC Report Shows Wearing Masks Didn’t Help for July.

First off, you have the agency that all the countries work in conjunction with deciding that lockdowns don’t work. This was the result of years of no one obviously actually game playing out what could happen if some virus that was anywhere near the plague came along to visit. Everyone in the beginning just took for granted that this was what the best and brightest had decided and we needed to take it with no questions asked. Now we hear that maybe that was not the best course of action.

Then the second phase of this plan was to have everyone mask up. Of course, Dr. Faucci and the Surgeon General of the United States were not for this back in March but they came around. Now we see real data that shows that the mask-wearing is not helping stop the spread. Check out the CDC spreadsheet HERE.
