Students at The Piney Woods School study a challenging and rigorous college preparatory curriculum designed with the mastery of content and skills anchored in project-based learning. Students take ownership of their own learning with the support of face- to- face instruction and our online learning platform. These two learning approaches allow our students to determine when, where, and how they learn. Our small class sizes empower students to explore and deepen their learning capacity. Students are encouraged to take risks and develop their own unique intellectual curiosity.
It is our desire to facilitate our students to become critical thinkers. We also assist them with goal setting, post-secondary plans, test preparation, and decision-making process.
Our academic village takes a student-centered approach to learning. Learning occurs within and beyond the classroom walls. Students are urged to be creators with highly developed research and self-reflective skills. Our curriculum is guided by The Piney Woods School’s core values, our honor code, and respect for self & others. We want our students to:
Practice living lives of purpose.
Feel empowered to make confident and constructive decisions.
Think creatively and leverage their talents, skills, and accomplishments.
Practice empathy, valuing the thoughts and ideas of others as well as themselves.
ACADEMIC COURSE OUTLINE
The Piney Woods School offers an academic program which reflects a general college-preparatory curriculum. The core courses of social studies, mathematics, science, English, and foreign language, along with a diversity of electives, are delineated to afford each student a solid educational structure.
airline codes are boring. Or so it seems at first. BA is British Airways, AA is American Airlines and so on. Others are random. IATA will assign available codes to airlines as needed and it is not necessarily a creative process. JetBlue getting B6 is one example. But sometimes there’s a lot more to them. Some airlines request particular codes because they want something more significant or more memorable. Others inherit codes from predecessor airlines. The result is a handful of airlines whose airline codes are fairly fascinating. Some have even spawned wild origin theories and urban legends.
Every airline carries a handful of unique identifiers alongside its customer-facing name. Each has both an IATA code (the two-digit codes we’re talking about) and an ICAO code (which has three digits). That’s in addition to the call signs used by air traffic control, which can get pretty interesting as we recently discussed here. But in the list below we’ll focus just on that two-digit IATA code, and some of its most intriguing examples.

Hunter Biden’s attorney called John Paul’s shop a few days back and asked for Hunter’s computers back. FYI. You don’t ask for someone else’s computers...you ask for your own. FYI

Here ya go....this is the email sent to John Paul by Hunter Biden's lawyer. It is in reference to returning the laptops. Also...the attorney said Hunter dropped em off in 2017. Nope..try April 2019. He didn't even know when he left em there. Redactions on this document are mine
Like attorney and retired philosophy/women’s studies professor Linda Hirshman, who told fellow feminists to “suck it up and make the utilitarian bargain.”
“Compared with the good Mr. Biden can do, the cost of dismissing Tara Reade — and, worse, weakening the voices of future survivors — is worth it,” Hirshman stated.
Blue-check feminist Kate Gardiner tweeted that she agreed with Hirshman. “This is my sentiment as well – Biden has to win,” Gardiner said in a now-deleted tweet.
In a letter to the editor at the New York Times, retired Dallas attorney and rape survivor Karen Wilson claimed she “loathed hypocrisy” but that it was paramount to get Trump out of office, even if it meant voting for a deeply flawed candidate like Biden who might have violently forced himself on an unwilling woman.
“We cannot survive as a democratic society with Mr. Trump in office for four more years,” Wilson said. “The need to get [Trump] out of office overrules every scruple we may have. I will live with my hypocrisy and believe that tens of millions of Americans will feel the same.” //
In a VIP piece I wrote when all this ugly feminist hypocrisy had been exposed, I pointed out that Joe Biden was effectively destroying the “#MeToo” movement.
But thanks to the media/Democrat protection racket that both insulates Biden from criticism on these issues while going after ACB with both barrels simply because she doesn’t toe the liberal line, it’s not just the #MeToo movement that has been destroyed. The “we must elevate women!” facade feminists have put up for the last several decades has come crashing down as well.
That feminists continue to expose themselves in this manner is a good thing for America. The more women who turn away from pseudo-feminism in all its forms as a result of the hypocrisy of groups like “NARAL” and “NOW” and two-faced Democratic politicians the better.
1776 Unites is a movement to liberate tens of millions of Americans…
by helping them become agents of their own uplift and transformation, by embracing the true founding values of our country.
Who We Are
1776 Unites represents a nonpartisan and intellectually diverse alliance of writers, thinkers, and activists focused on solutions to our country’s greatest challenges in education, culture, and upward mobility.
Our Declaration
1776 Unites is a project of the Woodson Center, a community transformation and empowerment organization founded by Robert L. Woodson, Sr. in 1981.
1776 Unites is a movement to shape the American future by drawing on the best of its past. Radically pragmatic and unapologetically patriotic, we hope to speak for Americans of all races, creeds, and political convictions who oppose the efforts to demoralize and demonize our country and its foundations from within, and to turn its people against one another with false history and grievance politics.
1776 Unites represents a nonpartisan and intellectually diverse alliance of hundreds of thousands of writers, thinkers, and activists focused on solutions to our country’s greatest challenges in education, culture, and upward mobility.
We acknowledge that racial discrimination exists — and work towards diminishing it. But we dissent from contemporary groupthink and rhetoric about race, class, and American history that defames our national heritage, divides our people, and instills helplessness among those who already hold within themselves the grit and resilience to better their lot in life.
1776 Unites maintains a special focus on voices in the black community who celebrate black excellence, reject victimhood culture, and showcase the millions of black Americans who have prospered by embracing the founding ideals of America.
We are intellectuals and journalists, entrepreneurs and grassroots activists, celebrating the progress America has made, the resilience of its people, and our future together. We seek decisive action in restoring our people’s confidence and advancing the cause of actual justice in the face of hostile messages that degrade the spiritual, moral, and political foundations of our nation.

The pandemic has put a number of older airplanes into expedited retirement this year, pushing down the world’s average fleet age. Still, it wouldn’t be unusual to fly on a commercial plane that’s been used on a daily basis for 20 or even 30-plus years. There’s a common misconception that advanced age might mean the plane is less reliable or even less safe. That’s generally not the case at all, as long as it’s in service with a reputable airline that has good maintenance practices. Most airplanes are designed to fly for at least a couple of decades, and potentially much more (though the 70+ year career of the DC-3 is an outlier). And to truly understand aircraft age you need to look at two factors beyond age: flight hours and pressurization cycles.
Most commercial airplanes might last around 30 years in service, but that depends a lot on how they’ve been flown and how many takeoffs and landings they’ve completed. That’s why when evaluating an older airplane the professionals will look at the number of hours flown, and most importantly the number of pressurization cycles. As an aircraft reaches its upper limit for these metrics, metal fatigue can become an issue.
Boeing has said the 747 can handle up to 35,000 pressurization cycles and 165,000 flight hours. A cycle is one pressurization and depressurization – normally one takeoff and landing. The 777-300ER can do 60,000 cycles, but only 160,000 hours. Few aircraft in service today are even close to these limits.
Smaller planes flying shorter flights more often will likely reach end-of-life after fewer hours, but may be designed to handle many more cycles with that in mind. It’s good news for Hawaiian Airlines, for example, that the 717 – its workhorse plane for short inter-island flights – can go through 110,000 pressurization cycles. //
It may be of interest to know that the oldest plane we track on a regular basis on Flightradar24 is this Curtiss Wright Travel Air B-4000, which is a whopping 91 years old. Looking around for old jets, this 53-year old DC-9 is among the oldest still flying regularly – though this ex-TWA plane was converted to carry cargo and no longer shuttles passengers around. Most of the oldest planes you can still fly on as a passenger will have been built in the 1970s, though with the situation as it is lately there’s no telling how many of these will remain active once flying picks back up again. One particularly appealing and ancient plane is this 747-200 flying for Saha Airlines in Iran, which is now 42 years old. //
The relatively aged 747-400s at British Airways that are now being sent off for retirement were initially slated to fly for some years to come. Yes they are old, but a big part of pulling them from service early is that they’re configured with too many premium seats to be profitable.

David Blaine acted out every child’s fantasy today when he strapped himself to 52 helium-filled balloons and then parachuted back to earth from 25,000 feet. Blaine lifted off just before 15:00 UTC from Page, Arizona and climbed for about 45 minutes before releasing himself from the cluster of balloons.
David Blaine’s bunch of balloons
Blaine’s bunch of 52 helium balloons carried him to 25,000 feet before he released his harness and parachuted back to the ground.
After release his team guided the balloons back to the ground by venting the helium for a safe recovery to the south of the release point.
We had to make some database additions to accommodate Blaine’s unique form of transportation. To the best of our knowledge, this was the first ever ADS-B-equipped bunch of balloons.
If you ever listen to air traffic control, you’ll hear pilots of both commercial and cargo aircraft identify themselves by a combination of their call sign and flight number. In fact these days there’s more than one type of call sign, which we discussed in-depth in this article from 2018. Here, I’d like to focus on the original radio call signs used by airlines, as this is where sparks of creativity tend to spring forth.
You might hear a handful of straightforward and obvious call signs at any given time: “American 37 heavy.” “Air Canada 112.” And so on. The name of the airline and its call sign is the same. But then comes a surprise: “Brickyard 3630.” That’s Republic Airlines, by the way. In their case, the call sign refers to the airline’s historical base at Indianapolis, where the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway is known as the Brickyard (because back in the day the race track was paved with bricks. See? Some of these call signs reach deep into history.)
With that in mind I thought I’d put together a list of some of the better airline call signs out there. The airlines run the range from some of the biggest in the world to the very obscure. Some of the more unusual call signs make sense right off the bat, while others will leave you scratching your head. Next time you’re idly listening to air traffic control (we all do that for fun, right?) keep an ear out for these.
Speedbird – British Airways. Any list of call signs needs to begin with Speedbird, which is probably the most famous ‘special’ call sign in the world. The name comes from an old logo of a bird, but whatever its origins, it is clearly the perfect call sign to evoke the speed and grace of an airliner cruising through the sky.
Springbok – South African Airways. The springbok decorated South African Airways planes since before it was even called that, back in its early days in the 1930s, and its first services to Europe in the 1940s were dubbed the “Springbok service.” Though the emblem has since disappeared, the call sign lives on. //
Kalitta Air – Connie. It might sound odd at first, but not when you know that cargo operator Kalitta’s call sign comes from its founder Connie Kalitta, a former drag racer and a very interesting person in general.
Florida is a state that — in my opinion — is really a GOP state that the media tries to argue is purple trending blue because of 2000, and because Obama won the state twice in 2008 and 2012.
One thing to keep in mind on that point, which I cover a bit more down below — only 2 Democrat politicians have won statewide in Florida for President, Governor, or Senator going back to 1998: Obama in 2008 and 20012, and Bill Nelson for Senate in 2000, 2006, and 2012.
Now, White House advisor Scott Atlas, who is a major player on the coronavirus task force, has been banned from Twitter for sharing an inconvenient truth. You see, he dared to suggest that masks are not magical strips of cloth that forever protect one from all ailments, but rather they should be used in ways that actually have some scientific backing.
Atlas had also tweeted out links to various studies backing his point, including the most recent guidance from the all knowing WHO, an organization that Twitter claims as authoritative when it meets their narrative.
