Vogue Blistered for Asking if Having a Baby Is 'Pure Environmental Vandalism' – RedState

Human Progress, a project that provides evidence from individual scholars, academic institutions, and international organizations, took issue with Frizzell’s basic premise, saying dramatic improvements in human well-being throughout much of the world.

“Children do not strain the world’s resources,” the organization said on Twitter. “In fact, the opposite is true: each new child is correlated with an increase in resource abundance.” //

Starting today, I no longer accept money from any corporate PAC.

I urge my GOP colleagues to do the same.

For too long, Republicans have allowed the left & their big-business allies to attack our values & ship jobs overseas with no response.

No more. //

Yes! Corporate America has put Americans last. They ship our jobs to China, mock middle America’s way of life, try to control our speech and run our lives. It’s time we stood up to them. I won’t take corporate PAC donations & I’ll fight to break up their monopoly power https://t.co/BXZ5DWzrzl

Mental Titan Joe Biden Flaunts His Ignorance of the Second Amendment – RedState

Why would I go talk to a hunter about the Second Amendment? That’s like talking to a hairstylist about surgical work because both fields make use of scissors. Yes, hunting is an assumed use of firearms under the Second Amendment, but it is not at all the reason for its existence. And what does magazine capacity have to do with body armor? A long-barreled rifle chambered in any normal hunting caliber that holds only five rounds is typically going to penetrate body armor better than a .223 Remington round from an AR-15. Biden is just spewing anti-gun ideas that aren’t even congruent. //

The Second Amendment was created so that ordinary citizens could keep and bear arms, thereby being able to organize into militias to fight threats, foreign or domestic. Hunting wasn’t even on the radar (though, it was assumed because it was such a normal part of life), and bringing it up shows a profound ignorance of the topic at hand.

As to why someone needs a 100-round magazine, the answer is simple: Because they want one. Any more questions? //

The root problem, of course, is that the Democrats consider the Bill of Rights to be a set of (limited) rights granted to the people by a benevolent government.

Nonsense is what that is.

The founders knew no government is benevolent, and wrote the Bill of Rights as a set of limits imposed on the government to prevent it encroaching on these natural rights which flow from our Creator.

SpaceX to resume Starlink flights, stretching reused Falcon rockets to their limits – Spaceflight Now

SpaceX aims to resume launching satellites for its Starlink internet network with the liftoff of a Falcon 9 rocket Wednesday night at Cape Canaveral, and company founder Elon Musk says SpaceX will use the sizeable backlog of Starlink missions to keep pushing the envelope and find the Falcon booster’s reuse life limit.

“There doesn’t seem to be any obvious limit to the reusability of the vehicle,” Musk told Spaceflight Now in a press conference Friday after the launch of SpaceX’s third crewed flight to the International Space Station. //

SpaceX officials have previously said the most recent version of the Falcon 9 booster can make 10 flights with only inspections and minor refurbishment in between missions. With an overhaul, the Falcon 9 boosters could fly 100 missions, SpaceX said when the new Block 5 booster design debuted in 2018.

Musk said Friday that SpaceX plans to keep reusing Falcon 9 boosters until they break, likely exceeding the 10-flight milestone.

“We do intend to fly the Falcon 9 booster until we see some kind of a failure with the Starlink missions, obviously, just to have that be a life leader,” Musk said. //

Last year, a SpaceX manager said it costs less than $30 million to fly a Falcon 9 rocket with reused parts, such as the booster and payload fairing, the clamshell-like aero-structure that protects sensitive satellite payloads during the climb through the atmosphere.

Although SpaceX has proven it can safely reuse first stages, payload shrouds, and Dragon capsules, the Falcon 9 rocket’s upper stage remains a single-use component. None of SpaceX’s competitors in the commercial launch industry have successfully re-flown an orbital-class booster. Some companies, like Blue Origin and Rocket Lab, plan to eventually recover and reuse their rocket boosters. //

SpaceX says it can deliver payloads of more than 100 metric tons, or 220,000 pounds, or low Earth orbit.

“With Starship, we’ll hopefully reuse the whole thing,” Musk said. “This is a hard problem for rockets, that’s for sure. It’s taken us, we’re like 19 years in now. I think the Starship design can work. It’s just, it’s a hard thing to solve, and the support of NASA is very much appreciated in this regard. I think it’s going to work. I think it’s going to work.

“I’d say it’s only recently though that I feel that full and rapid reusability can be accomplished,” Musk said. “I wasn’t sure for a long time, but I am sure now.”

855 Cummins - Cummins 855 Big Cam Engine | Big Bear Engine Company

The 855 Big Cam is regarded as one of the last true variable timing mechanical engines on the heavy duty side before electronics came into play with the N-14. The engine was first introduced in 1976 and mass produced up until 1985. After ’85 the engine was engine was still supplied by Cummins up until 2000, with engineering supersessions from 1988-1991. The Big Cam 855 replaced the Small Cam 855 of the 60s and in fact was the first engine designed to meet the new updated mandates of the Clean Air Act of 1976.

Old school truckers and farmers all loved the Cummins 855 Big Cam because of its simple design and reliability all the while producing some major horsepower and torque to get the job done in the field. The over the road truck application is designed to run for 700,000 before a major overhaul.

Notable aspects of the design is the demand flow cooling system which only cools parts of the engine when needed. This saved energy is this used at the crankshaft to deliver more horsepower to the task at hand. This additional horsepower is what made the engine so popular over the previous smaller cam models. A larger camshaft diameter and larger top stop injectors really pushed up the HP on these engines. Top-Stop Injectors are all mechanical but are designed to using a zero lash setting on the base circle on the cam injector lobe. This zero lash setting became known as the Inner Base Circle or “IBC” and increased fuel flow significantly over the small cam models.

Reaching 400+ HP was now attainable and stable without having to do any performance upgrades to the fuel pump. The drawback to the fuel injection system is the lower 2,200 psi it runs at which negatively affects power to the oil pump, water pump, variable timing system and valve spring pressures. In cold climates the engine can be difficult to start. However this can be remediated with block heaters or oil immersion heaters. Overall, you’re not going to have a whole lot of issues with this classic diesel engine.

A Racist Attack on Tim Scott Turns Into an Absolute Roasting – RedState

What is it with white liberals believing they have the right to levy racist attacks against black Republicans? That happened again last night from several corners of the left after Tim Scott delivered his rebuttal to Joe Biden’s boring, yet surprisingly dangerous address to Congress.

Keith Olbermann mocked Scott, claiming he had “Stockholm Syndrome,” for example. You know, because a black man can’t possibly think for himself. He needs a white savior like Olbermann to dictate to him.

Sen. Scott insisting America is not racist but our healing from racism isn’t finished and he’s been called racist names.

Incidentally, Senator, anybody calls you the N-word is a friend of Trump’s. We progressives refer to you as a victim of Stockholm Syndrome. //

I’m going to watch Senator Tom Scott’s speech later. I guess it was good if the reaction is the Left doubling down on being racist towards him.

Did Democrats Forget The 1983 Senate Bombing?

President Joe Biden claimed during his first State of the Union address that the Jan. 6 Capitol riot was “the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War.”

Moments after the transcript of the speech’s opening went public before the address, Washington Examiner chief congressional correspondent Susan Ferrechio tweeted out a photo featuring devastation from the 1983 Senate bombing. //

Joe Biden is absolutely correct in saying tonight that January 6 was “the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War.” //

Nearly 3,000 died on Sept. 11, 2001, and more than 2,400 at Pearl Harbor. Only five died who were present at the Capitol on Jan. 6 this year, four of whom passed from natural causes, and one from a gunshot fired by a Capitol Police officer.

New York Democrat Rep. Jerry Nadler of New York helped secure clemency for the left-wing terrorists who bombed the U.S. Capitol decades earlier, granted by President Bill Clinton.

CA's 9th Circuit Overturns Injunction; CA Truckers Will Now Be Subject to AB5 – RedState

As I wrote early last year:

If any profession represents the independent spirit, grit, and ingenuity that helped forge America, it is that of the Trucker. Truckers are the American Dream personified, and are representative of the family business and passing down a legacy. But today, California truckers are engaged in a pitched battle against the state’s AB5 law, a piece of legislation that threatens to do away with their way of life. //

Now, Californians can look forward to higher food prices because of all those “union” rates and protections being tacked on, as well as the limited supply of highly skilled truckers. Don’t be surprised if more grocery chains start to shutter their stores, //

Hardest hit: construction. Expect it to become more expensive, and move at an even more glacial pace. //

855 Cummins - Cummins 855 Big Cam Engine | Big Bear Engine Company

Long block 855 Engines (1/2 - 3/4 Assembly) are suitable replacements for existing engines that have experienced catastrophic failure, but the ancillary components are still in good working order. If you spun a bearing, threw a rod through the block or dropped a valve a long block is more cost effective alternative to a more complete option. Check the turbo, fuel pump, manifolds, fuel lines and accessory drive components are undamaged before looking at a long block option. Metal shavings and lack of oil pressure can oftentimes leave unseen damage. Long blocks are a good option for both on-highway and off-highway industrial use. 855 NTC, NTA, NT, NH versions can be built to spec either as an extended long block or long block option to an ESN and CPL Number. Check with your sales representative for lead time and availability for custom engine orders.

BREAKING: Biden Official Confirms Plans to Ban Fried Chicken and Grape Drink – RedState

AUSTIN, TX– The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) is preparing to institute more measures to safeguard black lives by banning products they like. After it was announced that the Biden administration would prohibit the sale of menthol cigarettes, officials are looking at other ways the government can save the black community from itself.

Only days after the menthol ban was announced, the FDA declared that it was pushing full steam ahead with its effort to rescue the black community through what they refer to as “strategic race-based prohibition.” An FDA official explained that the fried fowl and grape-flavored cola – also known as “grape drank” – must be banned because “these hopeless negroes don’t know how to act.”

“Preventing black people from killing themselves by banning certain products is the least we can do given the level of oppression they have endured in this country,” said a high-ranking member of the Biden administration. “This is why fried chicken and grape soda have to go.”

IBM reaffirms support for open-source devs after internal Linux kernel maintainer argument goes public - TechRepublic

During an interview with Todd Moore, VP Open Technology at IBM, Moore made it clear that IBM has over 80,000 employees who are trained to contribute and participate in open source. The company has processes, classes and mentors who aid in this training. Employees can certify in contributing to open-source projects and IBM encourages this. According to Moore, IBM made 19,000 commits to open source projects last month alone.

"We respect our developer's need to be individuals, and their open source code contributed under a personal ID represents them and their resume" said Moore. "Often our contributors will have a personal GitHub ID and an IBM GitHub ID. We use tooling to track contributions under both IDs to ensure everyone gets credit towards our recognition program."

IBM has a program called IBM Developer, which is a technology-based resource, where developers can discover ways to get involved with open source. The company also introduced the Call for Code global challenge (in conjunction with the Linux Foundation) which takes projects and assists them in getting to market.

Biden Fails To Match Trump's Numbers In First Speech to Congress in CNN Poll – RedState

Roughly half of viewers, 51%, fell in the “very positive” reaction category. A chart showed that is a lower figure than was recorded for former Presidents Donald Trump in 2017, Barack Obama in 2009, and George W. Bush in 2001, whose “very positive” scores in the same poll were 57%, 68%, and 66%, respectively.

That was even with the watchers who “overall leaned Democratic,” CNN’s Manu Raju admitted. Yikes.

Epic deposition shows how differently Google and Apple treat messaging – Ars Technica

For Google, not buying WhatsApp in 2013 feels like a major turning point. Google would go on to launch seven competing messaging and video apps over the years: Google Hangouts in 2013; Google Spaces, Google Allo, and Google Duo in 2016; and Google Chat and Google Meet in 2017. The company also pushed for RCS over Google Messages in 2019. Cue's prediction that the company could "lose" to a Google-led WhatsApp now seems like a dream from a bygone era.

Cue also called messaging "one of the most important apps in a mobile environment," which represents a striking difference from how Google approaches messaging. At Google, messaging is only ever handled by an endless series of underfunded, unstable side projects led by job-hopping project managers. Google releases a new messaging app about every 12-18 months, making it very difficult for any single app to gain traction and reducing consumer confidence in any individual product. The heads of these projects often leave the company shortly after a splashy product launch, and with no top-down direction on what the company should support, the products usually start winding down once the leader bails.

Federighi's comments echo Apple's longstanding position that iMessage is a key lock-in component of Apple's walled garden and that the company shouldn't make it easy for "iPhone families" to incorporate Android devices. The Epic case earlier revealed a 2016 comment from Apple's Phil Schiller, saying that "moving iMessage to Android will hurt us more than help us."
