The Neanderthals Were Right – RedState

The Neanderthals were right. That’s the story this morning after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott shared the news that Texas reported zero deaths from COVID for the first time since they began collecting data. This comes after Joe Biden called Texas, Mississippi, and other red states “Neanderthals” for daring to lift clearly ineffective business restrictions and mask mandates.

Greg Abbott
@GregAbbott_TX
Today Texas reported:

  • 0 Covid related deaths--the only time that's happened since data was tracked in March, 2020.

  • the fewest Covid cases in over 13 months

  • the lowest 7-day Covid positivity rate ever

  • the lowest Covid hospitalizations in 11 months.

Thanks, Texans!

Joe Biden Blows up The Middle East in Four Months, Guess Who the Left Blames – RedState
thumbnail

One of the things that’s been fascinating to watch, as Israel is being attacking by Hamas on Joe Biden’s watch, is who the folks on the left are blaming for the implosion.

Are they blaming Hamas? No.

Are they blaming Joe Biden? Most definitely not.

They are, through a process of twisted pretzel logic, blaming Jared Kushner: the bête noire of the left. //

George Takei
@GeorgeTakei
Two things are certain. Jared Kushner left a mess in the Middle East. And he’s probably gleeful at how the current awful situation pits progressives and liberals against one another.
8:55 AM · May 16, 2021

Yet, this is utter nonsense. If Kushner had “failed,” why is the Middle East blowing up under Biden and not under President Donald Trump? I realize this is a hard question for them because, logic. But it’s a simple one they can’t answer. //

So, yes, let’s funnel even more money to folks who want to obliterate Israel, because we think that money is going to make them more compliant? I feel think we’re in such a stupid part of history that anyone could really be dumb enough to think or say this.

Head of Public Diplomacy at the Israeli Embassy in Berlin, Yaki Lopez, put it to George Takei plainly: what was bad with what Kushner achieved?

The Abraham Accords crated peace between Israel and two Arab countries (and later two more also came on board). This is something that hasn’t been achieved in almost 30 yrs (since peace with Jordan. How is this a bad thing?

CDC Dir. Rochelle Walensky Makes an Astonishing Admission About COVID Deaths – RedState

Justin Baragona
@justinbaragona
CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, somewhat confusingly, says they are aware of 223 people who have died with covid after being vaccinated.

"Not all of those 223 cases who had covid actually died of covid. They may have had mild disease but died, for example, of a heart attack." //

All I can do is shake my head at this. What Walensky is doing is trying to draw a distinction between those who died directly because they got COVID and those who may have tested positive, but ultimately died of another comorbidity or condition. Now, to most people, that would seem like common sense. After all, why would you count someone with terminal cancer or an already failing heart as a COVID death — just because they had the virus when they died?

But what’s so astonishing about this is that what Walensky is saying has previously been declared to be completely off-limits for over a year by the powers that be. In fact, it’s the kind of thing that has often gotten right-leaning sites in trouble with the social media censors. Yet, here is the Biden administration saying what was previously labeled as taboo, just because it fits their narrative. Meanwhile, the media don’t question it, and the social media overlords just shrug.

Obviously, what Walensky is saying is true, though. What we know about COVID — and who is hit the hardest — says that co-morbidities, including heart problems, lung problems, and morbid obesity, are the top factor. If someone is otherwise terminally sick, even a mild case of COVID could expedite matters.

John Hayward Absolutely Nails the Stakes of 2020, Conservatism, and Donald Trump – RedState

I wonder if any of the super-duper-principled True Conservatives are going to criticize the totalitarian Democrats for their LGBT town hall, which was filled with vows to shred the Constitution and use raw State power to socially engineer the American people.

We hear a lot of nasty cracks from that crowd about religious conservative voters selling their souls to support Trump. Let them explain how conservative purity requires handing the country over to the left-wingers who just spent all night vowing to destroy religious freedom.

This was never difficult to understand, and it was never hypocrisy from evangelicals. The handwriting was on the wall during the Obama administration. They knew perfectly well what a President Hillary would unleash upon them.

It's not just a religious freedom issue, either. Criticize Trump however you like, but he isn't aggressively trying to use the power of the State to forcibly remake the electorate. His most aggressive uses of executive power have been efforts to PREVENT others from doing so.

You want to talk about bedrock conservative principles? Intrinsic to the very notion of conservatism is resisting the use of coercive force to make people abandon their beliefs and live according to the whims of those who have power over them.

Try This One Weird Trick Russian Hackers Hate – Krebs on Security

DarkSide, like a great many other malware strains, has a hard-coded do-not-install list of countries which are the principal members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) — former Soviet satellites that all currently have favorable relations with the Kremlin, including Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Romania, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. The full exclusion list in DarkSide (published by Cybereason) is below:Simply put, countless malware strains will check for the presence of one of these languages on the system, and if they’re detected the malware will exit and fail to install.

Will installing one of these languages keep your Windows computer safe from all malware? Absolutely not. There is plenty of malware that doesn’t care where in the world you are. And there is no substitute for adopting a defense-in-depth posture, and avoiding risky behaviors online.

But is there really a downside to taking this simple, free, prophylactic approach? None that I can see, other than perhaps a sinking feeling of capitulation. The worst that could happen is that you accidentally toggle the language settings and all your menu options are in Russian.

If this happens (and the first time it does the experience may be a bit jarring) hit the Windows key and the space bar at the same time; if you have more than one language installed you will see the ability to quickly toggle from one to the other. //

But James says he loves the idea of everyone adding a language from the CIS country list so much he’s produced his own clickable two-line Windows batch script that adds a Russian language reference in the specific Windows registry keys that are checked by malware. The script effectively allows one’s Windows PC to look like it has a Russian keyboard installed without actually downloading the added script libraries from Microsoft. https://github.com/Unit221B/Russian

CBS News Poll of Republican Voters Is Final Stake in Heart of Cheney's Efforts – RedState

Eighty percent of Republicans agreed with the vote to remove Cheney. Of that group, their various reasons included her being “off-message, unsupportive of Mr. Trump, and that she’s wrong about the 2020 presidential election.” Interestingly, even the twenty percent that didn’t agree said they were less likely to vote in Republican primaries, according to CBS, making them even less likely to be an important factor.

The poll also showed, by big numbers, that Republicans want the party to follow Trump’s example on issues like the economy (89%), immigration (88%), leadership (80%) and how to treat the media (77%). Sixty-six percent said being loyal to Trump was important, 33% said it wasn’t important. Sixty-seven percent said they didn’t believe that Joe Biden was the legitimate winner of the election. While concerns about what happened in the 2020 election were important, it was most important to be focused on the right policies — that important legislation and agreeing on economic policy was more important.

Supreme Court Tees Up To Review Abortion Bans In Mississippi Case

May 17, 2021 By Jordan Davidson

The U.S. Supreme Court agreed to take up a case examining whether Mississippi’s pro-life ban on elective abortions 15 weeks into pregnancy is unconstitutional.

This particular restriction in Missippi was first enacted in 2018 and allowed abortions after the 15-week date for “medical emergencies” and “severe” fetal abnormalities. Lower courts, however, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, blocked the law and ruled that it places an undue burden on women who want to abort their child after the state’s deadline.

By choosing to take up Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, justices on the Supreme Court are teeing up to reevaluate “whether all pre-viability prohibitions on elective abortions are unconstitutional” and potentially change how landmark abortion cases such as Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey affect Americans.

Pro-life activists celebrated the decision as a step in the right direction to ban abortion altogether.

Biden Administration Flounders in Middle East With Inability to Name an Ambassador to Israel – RedState

Pres. Trump decided that 43 waivers in a row were enough, and announced in December 2017 that there would not be a 44th waiver in the summer of 2018. So the folks in the Embassy started packing their bags, and they moved to Jerusalem when the summer of 2018 arrived.

The problem facing the Biden Administration is that the confirmation process for any US Ambassador is going to draw calls for moving the US Embassy from Jerusalem back to Tel Aviv, and the Biden Administration nominee is going to need to address that question.

But having the Embassy located in Jerusalem means it is now in compliance with US law, and any effort to force a relocation of the Embassy would be in violation of US law. So the nominee will not be able to join in the chorus that is certain to rise from the radical anti-Israel wing of the Democrat party.

Mitt Romney Reminds Us Again Why the GOP Establishment Deserves to Get Shellacked – RedState

If only these people had as much energy for the George Floyd riots as they do for the assault on the U.S. Capitol.

Indeed, despite what the left would have you believe, Cheney did not lose her position because she criticized Trump. She was not ousted because she supported the second impeachment sham. It was her constant need to bring up the riots and Trump’s comments about the 2020 election that eventually did her in.

When she faced the same consequences in February, she still enjoyed enough support to keep her in as conference chair. But now, even her allies have grown sick of her incessant relitigating of the election and the riots that followed. While the rest of the party wishes to move forward and work with Trump, regardless of their disagreements with his comment, people like Romney, Cheney and the rest of the Never Trump crowd present themselves as obstacles to progress on the right.

Joe Biden Unveils His Big Distraction – RedState

As RedState has chronicled, the last week has been an absolute disaster for the Joe Biden Administration. It started with a disastrous jobs report which fell 700,000 below expectations. Then there was the report on inflation which showed a 4.2% rise in April alone, crushing the savings and buying power of normal Americans. Meanwhile, war has broken out between Israel and Palestinian terrorists at a level that hasn’t been seen since the year 2000. But if that weren’t enough, we also had a ransomware attack on a major pipeline that caused days of gas shortages.

Yeah, it hasn’t been a good week. That meant that a distraction was needed. Enter today’s CDC guidance changes.
